Latitude Medical Evaluators was founded by Alexander Sones, MD, QME and Michael MacIntyre, MD, QME, both UCLA-faculty physicians, double-board certified in general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. Dr. Sones and Dr. MacIntyre founded Latitude Medical Evaluators with a shared vision of building a physician-led organization dedicated to high-quality, independent medical-legal evaluations within the California workers’ compensation system.

The company was created in response to a common problem: many capable physicians are interested in performing Qualified Medical Evaluations (QMEs) and Agreed Medical Evaluations (AMEs), yet lack the administrative infrastructure, mentorship, and operational support required to develop and sustain a successful practice. Drawing from their own experience, Dr. Sones and Dr. MacIntyre built Latitude Medical Evaluators to address these gaps directly.

We bring specialized training in the intersection of medicine and the law. This background is directly applicable to medical-legal evaluations, where physicians must address complex issues such as diagnosis, causation, apportionment, impairment, and disability in a manner that is both clinically rigorous and legally meaningful. Equally important is the ability to communicate opinions clearly, logically, and in a format that is useful to attorneys, claims professionals, and the courts.
